ios-4-1-brings-back-iphone-field-test-mode

The new iOS 4.1 that Apple released since yesterday has brought back the “Field Test Mode”, which can provide precisely your cell signal reception strength at your exact location.

Once upgraded to the new OS, from your iPhone, bring up the phone app and dial *3001#12345#* – You will see the standard signal bars located on top left corner of your iPhone, replaced with a number (shown as –89 in the screenshot). I assume this number represents the Db signal loss. Tap on it to toggle back to bars. Hit the home button to disable the field test mode.

For iPhone 4 users, try to play with the Field Test Mode by touching the gap on the lower left of your metal band to see if the attenuation of cell reception rumors are true.
